Which drive or folder does malware infect the most? I was just wondering. Does it infect the C drive the most or any drive just as equally? I have malwarebytes installed on my computer and know to regularly run a scan, but I'm still trying to gain more knowledge about computers. Any information will be helpful.|||It`s most likely to affect C drive, as this is usually the drive most used for downloading to.
Also all the Windows files etc. are stored on C drive.
The registry is on C drive and is often infected by viruses, so even if using a different drive, I think C would be infected through the registry.
Obviously if you download and save to a different drive, that will be infected, as well as the registry.
If you download an infected file to C and then move it to another drive/partition, that one will be infected.|||mostly the main system drive but some do hide out in things like usb keys etc as a way to get spread.
Diffrent malware will go to different directories, some will be in the windows folder, some in program files, application data etc really it depends where they are programmed to reside.|||Mostly the C: drive as thats the most common drive where your browser temp files are stored or you would most probably install software
But regards they can affect any drive if you aint carefull about what you install. so its entirely upto you to make sure you scan your files before installing software|||I think it infects C drive, but that doesn't mean it can go after others!!
