Can deleting your browsing history get rid of viruses or malware?

Suppose if you go tp a website and you get a virus or you get malware. If you delete your browsing history including the place you got it from Can it get rid of the virus.|||No, it has nothing to do with the history.

The History is just a list of the websites you have visited, you may be able to get rid of a virus or malware by restoring your PC to an earlier date but often this does not work.

Your best bet is to buy a good Antivirus software and make sure it is always up-to date, it will save you a lot of heartache!|||No. The browsing history is just a record of the sites you visited.|||No, very very Rarely. Usually it has already executed on the system. If not - it is possible that it is residing in the Windows %26gt; Temporary Internet Files (junk history files - internet tracks - temp files) waiting for the user to be duped into executing it by clicking associated phisher email or spam or launching a software that hides the infection not yet exeuted for installation.

Now on Windows Vista - that is the only place a virus can write its files to - the temporary files. Vista disallows viruses from writing to the disk IF the user has paid attention to keeping the UAC User Account Control ON and NOT off ! Rootkits can not run on Vista either. The answer in Vista is yes.

TIP: Another security tip is to turn off the storing of temporary files in Java. Not needed. You open %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Java ---- and go to the settings tabs and turn off. This is another area malware will store files to execute.
