How to clean all malware and speed up the computer?

I am needing help fix my neighbors computer,

I need to remove all their malware and speed up their computer system.

Is there a step by step guide I could use than can help me out?

And software to diagnose issues and telling me what to do to fix them.

They have 5 pc's

Running:

windows 2 w xp 2 w vista and 1 w 7 please help|||Use a trial version of Revo Uninstaller in aggressive mode to remove all of the programs you do not use, especially the bloat ware that may have been installed when the computer was new. Unlike windows uninstaller which is mediocre at best Revo removes orphan files and registry entries that are left behind. Take your time. It is a little confusing to understand because things are laid out differently. When the window comes up that shows the registry items it only removes the items in bold. There has been no problem with selecting all, then delete.

Although it is said that items left in the registry do not slow the computer I prefer to keep mine clean. CCleaner is an excellent product. Take your time. You can always go back and delete an entry later if desired.

Run either Revo or Ccleaner to find orphan files on your hard drive.

Go to windows Disk Cleaner. For System Restore check to clean the files. This will remove all of the restore points prior to the last one. You can also remove other items suggested by the cleanup app.

Windows disk defragmenter does a fair job. Perfect Disk does an excellent job. Download the trial version. Allow it to run in Smart mode so the file location is maximized.

Not all antivirus programs will catch everything. Download Malwarebytes, Avira and Avast. Run these one after the other to find all traces of a virus, spyware, hijackers, keyloggers, etc. Do not have more than one antivirus on the computer as it can cause serious problems.

Programs like to load themselves in the system tray. They do not need to be running at startup. Go to Start/Rum. Type msconfig. Go to to the Start tab. Look for programs than do not need to run at startup especially printers and automatic updaters. Use Google to find the meaning of the file names. If a location for the file or file name is not shown uncheck it as it is bad news. Check OK, then reboot. When back in windows the System Utility will open. Click the box that says not to run at startup.

There are more items that can be shut down under Services but do not try this without full knowledge of what is being done as the consequences can be serious.

Keep up with the above mentioned disk maintenance to keep the computer running at its best.

It is normal for the computer to run a little rough for a few days and through a few reboots. There has been a lot changed and the system needs some time to get itself organized again. Once you are completed with the maintenance and the system is working smoothly create a restore point with System Restore. This just lets you know it was at a good status when the point was stored in case a Restore is needed.|||It is not so well to format your neighbors computer,as it will lost somethingg important and useful.

Firstly, you want to remove all the malware. You should take steps just like:

1.disconnect the computer, then backup all the good files that your neighbors want to save.

2.Use a utility like Safe Mode to stop the malware from running.

3.Check "My Network Places." Delete anything that you do not recognize or if the name looks suspect.

4.Reboot back to Safe Mode. At this point you have taken care of the surface malware. Review again for any other errors, in addition to malware.

5.Go to "add/remove" in your control panel and begin to remove adware.

6.Delete all ActiveX controls, the Web browser cache, temporary files, cookies and the Web browser history.

7.Empty the recycle bin for each user.

8.Set up a firewall program and get it running.

9.Log on to the Internet and scan the hard disk for any possible viruses.

10.Reboot your system and check for anything you may have missed.

Secondly, you can go to speed up the PC:

1.Running the disk clean up;

2.Empty the recycle bin;

3.Uninstall unused and unwanted applications and programs;

4.Keep the computer in a cool place, without overheat.

5.Clear the internet cookies and temporary files.

6.Shut down those unnecessary startup programs as more as possible.

7.scan the registry of your neighbors' PC

Scanning the registry is the most important thing to speed up the computer. As an advanced registry cleaner can not only remove systom errors and virus, but also help optimize PC.

Hope these steps can help you truly!|||Well there's a comprehensive guide here:

As for speeding them up it depends upon many things including:

Dirt

Start up programs

Corrupt or out of date browser add ons

Out of date software that's missing updates including drivers

Dodgy cables

Incorrectly configured wireless router

Poor choice of DNS provider

Too many junk files

Defrag not done

System clean up (including restore points or shadow volume copies)

Check what is using ports

Check what is auto updating

Check for system errors: http://www.runscanner.net/ - Expert mode. (Don't use this if you don't know what you're doing)

Apply some tweaks: http://www.mztweak.com/products.html - (Again, don't use this if you don't know what you're doing)

A few general tips: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10thing鈥?/a>

If you want software to do the job for you - you will not find an all in one program that can do everything but this would help:

http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcarep鈥?/a>|||Open a browser window and go to www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php.

Download the software (choose the free version).

Double-click the installation file. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the software.

Add checkmarks to the boxes for "Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" and "Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware."

Click "Finish." Malwarebytes will automatically update and open.

Scan Your Computer

Click "Perform Quick Scan" on the "Scanner" tab.

Click "Scan."

Select all of your computer's drives, then click "Start Scan."

Click "OK" when the scan is complete.

Click "Show Results."

Select all of the results, then click "Remove."

Close the program when all of the malware files have been removed.|||Hi James

Try the following:

1. read %26amp;run:

2. Now you've run TDSSkiller %26amp; malwarebytes, run free superantispyware:

http://www.superantispyware.com/

3. now do a free online scan:

4.Read %26amp; run (you want a score of 100%):

5. download %26amp; run free Ccleaner:

Tip:

If malwarebytes won't run, run free rkill first:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download鈥?/a>|||Formatting is the very last resort.

Malwarebytes Antimalware is very good, but it is best to boot into Safe Mode with Networking, download and run Rkill from www.bleepingcomputer.com followed by a fresh download and run of Malwarebytes. This avoids the problem of the downloaded file itself being infected before you can use it.|||easiest way : format all!

hardest way.. install antivirus, update them and check for malware.
