What would be the motivation for people to distribute fake tickets to people leading them to malware?

For what reason would a person put a ticket on a car that leads the car owner to a site that contains malware..Please dont say because people are mean..I already know that..Whats the motivation???|||It's mainly money that drives them and not meanness. There is big money in it for those who do it the "right" way. The money will then roll in in different ways depending on what kind of malware they just gave you. Some take over you computer and email to send spam or host illegal things. Others look for bank information or other information that they can use for frauds.

The risks are there for you as a private person but the big money cows are those who surf from their job. Many businesses have sensitive information in their computers and they also have poor security since it costs a lot to keep it updated at all times.

This is far from many the hakkers of the past that would send an ideological or sometimes funny message with what they did. Many in the old crowd were "gentlemen" when it came to the information that they got their hands on and it was more of a game where they went it told that they had been there, and then waited for someone to see it and fix so that they could boost about how long it had taken security to find the issue.

Today malware is a billion dollar industry and people become rich on it. It's not about being mean, it's not about having fun it's about 拢拢拢 $$$ 鈧偓鈧?and plenty of it.

I've never hear of anyone placing out tickets on cars before but they say that all ways are good as long as they are working.

What to do when Malwarebytes or MSE can't run because of a nasty virus/malware?

I have a bad Trojan and my virus and malware scans won't work. I assume it is because of this nasty thing. What to do if the thing to combat it will not work?|||http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.鈥?/a>

Go to that site. and do all the steps. I had the same issue and it cured it. Malware or windows defender wouldn't work. its a step by step guide, very easy to follow. hope it helps!|||You must rename the mbam.exe file to something different and then run it. Update and scan for malware - best if you can do it in safe mode. It will remove most of the pests.

Try to update and run the Antivirus in Safe Mode as well. If your AV has been compromised, you can switch to the free version of AVG temporarily (bring it in via an USB stick if downloads fail).

To have realtime anti-malware protection and prevent malware infections, you can try an IP blocker (SpyBot S%26amp;D has a decent one for free) and even realtime protection (Malwarebytes full version has it, together with scheduled scans and updates - save on it with Malwarebytes coupon codes shared by users on http://news.dtcdeals.com/malwarebytes-co鈥?/a> or google for more). What is this I hear about the the iCrash mac malware?

I heard there is a new mac malware that some hacker group said they are making.

They said it was inspired by the hackintosh group. I don't recommend playing in the computers registry though if you're unsure what you are doing.

Can sombody explain to me what polymorphism is and how malware can use it to remain undetected on a computer?

I've been learning about malware recently, the different kinds, how its used, what it can do... ect. And I can't seem to find an artical or definition I am capable of understanding. I have no intention of using this in a malcious way, computer security simply interest me.|||polymorphism is the ability of an object 2 take more than one form. for example u take wood its just wood when u cut it but u can make many things outa it which may b a furniture a statue etc.... wood takes many forms still it is wood

like wise a malware copies itself and stores itself under different names so that if u remove one it creates many ( worm also works on the same principle )|||Polymorphism means many forms.

That means many objects taking one form, not one object taking many form.

They seem as same but work very much different,

In case of malware it you can make a software that seems as the one very familiar to the user or being used by the OS or something alike, but work as some thing else.

What is the difference between virus and malware?

I have a problem on my computer of it trying to pull up webpages and the command line. I got a virus on my computer yesterday, and my antivirus software detected it and I told it to deny access. Now the command line problem is gone, but the pulling up webpage problem is still there. People are telling me that it is malware, not a virus. So what is the difference between malware and virus|||Malware is any piece of bad software, like viruses, worms, spyware and trojans. So malware and viruses are the same thing.|||Malware and viruses are not the same thing - and that is the reason why you can have the latest, greatest anti-virus software on your PC and still get a nasty malware infection.

http://lifehacker.com/5560443/鈥?/a> - this is the best info on malware/adware/spyware

|||Malware is an all-inclusive term, intended to include any software or functions normally associated with spyware, adware, viruses, foistware etc. Although some specific files may be designated as "virus" nowadays, the malware coders take advantage of any methods they can to succeed in infecting and misusing the systems of their victims. So a trojan downloader can be used to trick the user into allowing the infection computer access, which then delivers/installs active malware components, and included in these can be files with "virus" functioning of self-replication.

What I read in your request here is that regardless of the designation used, your computer has active infection there which needs to be addressed.

To just repeat what I post in some other requests here, too little info and too complex a scenario to honestly suggest this or that tool or repair here. I would suggest posting a request at an available free infection removal forum to get your system cleaned up. I can either assist you at mine, or you can just yahoo web search "hijackthis free help" or words to that effect to locate one of the locations where you can receive assistance. |||Malware: Malicious computer software that interferes with normal computer functions or sends personal data about the user to unauthorized parties over the Internet.

Virus: a segment of self-replicating code planted illegally in a computer program, often to damage or shut down a system or network.

A virus is defintely the worst one to have because it can totally damage your computer.

|||malwares and viruses are the same in the fact that they all cause some harm in your system. the difference is that viruses after doing harm they usually find ways connecting to the internet or others means to infect other pc's. when viruses look for ways to infect other pc's - this slows down your pc, as they hog resources.|||Malware is malicious software a virus is a program.|||most viruses are designed to make destructive damage. Advice for protecting a computer from malware?

After losing a computer to damage caused by viruses and malware, I can't stop worrying about the security of my other PCs. I recently set up a brand new machine and I would really appreciate some advice on what firewall to install and what antivirus to use. I'd also like to know if it's safe to use a firewall while running an anti-virus or anti-malware program at the same time.

Scan at least once a week with the last 2 removers and set your Avira to do a daily scan (mine is midday every day) - If you think any infections have slipped past your 'running' anti virus then run a quick scan with SUPERantispyware -

If you used these on the last system you would not have needed to junk it - Also set M/soft updates to D/load as they are important to your system -|||um you can download Antivirus 2009 which gives total protection and nothing to worry about|||If you want a virus scanner, go for something reputable. Avast, AVG and Norton are all reputable. Some cost, some are free.

Using a firewall with antivirus software is usually fine. In general, you don't want more than one of each or they may conflict with each other. One antivirus program, one firewall and one anti-malware program.

The most effective way of making your computer more secure is through something I like to call security through minority. About 88% of all computers run Windows. This means if you were to make a virus, you would make it for Windows as it would affect the most number of people (making a virus that infects more than one operating system is very difficult, sometimes impossible). As a result of Window's market share, over 99% of all viruses target Windows machines. You are several hundred times less likely to get a virus running a non-Windows machine. Since you already have the machines, you could install Linux on them, however, Linux is not as user friendly as the geeks who use it would like to think, and almost all software you have for Windows can't be run on Linux, so there's quite a few downsides.

What I suggest to you is this: Stop using Internet Explorer. Internet viruses are downloaded to your computer through exploits in the browser, which means it can usually only target one browser. Internet Explorer has around 80% share of the market, so it is the most likely to give you a virus, as that's what virus makers will target to affect the most users. It's the whole security through minority situation again.

Alternative browsers are

Safari http://www.apple.com/safari/

Chrome http://www.google.com/chrome

Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

Opera http://opera.com

Opera is what I use, but it's not for everyone. Don't forget to get the antivirus/malware/firewall as well. All four are as important as each other.

Also be aware that older operating systems are more vulnerable. If you get offered the choice to have Windows XP instead of Vista, don't take it. The OS is 7 years old, as well as it's security system. Vista is the most recent, but Windows 7 is being released in October. As time goes on, the security system gets better (because as time goes on, hackers get better). Also make sure your system updates are up to date, via Windows Update.

All are safe and can be trusted and you can download one.|||You might need to download utilities on another PC and run them off a USB drive. The guide I mention below goes into more detail.

In order to successfully remove malware infections (viruses, spyware, adware etc) from your PC you need to follow a methodical approach as well as using effective (and free) tools. There’s a decent guide covering this that you can work through at My Slow PC (http://www.MySlowPC.co.uk/) – click on the “Troubleshooting” link. Here’s my advice from it:

1.) Turn System Restore OFF so any infection that you remove is not restored.

2.) Scan with a combination of the best detection utilities as you’ll find different scanners can sometimes pick up different infections. E.g.

* McAfee Stinger – a free standalone Trojan virus scanner

* SpyBot Search %26amp; Destroy – a spyware/adware scanner

* Lavasoft Adaware – for spyware/adware

Note – it might be a good idea to disconnect your network connection once you’ve updated them with the latest virus/spyware definitions. This is due to the fact that often an infection is trying to spread over your network.

3.) If the above fails or you’re not sure if you’re still infected, when you start your PC tap the F8 key, select “Safe Mode” and repeat the scans once you’re connected.

I hope the above helps, as mentioned the guide above is a lot more detailed and the My Slow PC site is pretty useful. Good luck!|||Oki, so this is How i get rid of Viruses on my computer.

Why all the sudden am I having Malware problems?

Since yesterday I have been having malware problems. My antivirus has been popping up as detecting malware problems. I never had this problem before but lately I have been. I dont even have to be doing anything and it comes up. What is the deal? I have anti malware software too and when I run that it doesnt detect anything. My anti virus is the one detecting it. Help please. Thanks.|||Depending on how good your protective software works, sometimes malware can sneak through. All protection software is not created equally. If what you have now is not working, I'd advise you to try something else and see if it does not get rid of the malware on your computer. Below are some articles that you can check out for recommendations on best spyware, malware, and virus protection software, as well as gives tips on safe computing practices, so you can save yourself money and trips to the computer repair shop.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>

This article discusses the top three free virus protection software that is sure to provide your computer with top notch protection from viruses.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>

This article gives tips on how to protect your computer so you can not only save yourself the frustration for when it becomes infected with viruses and malicious software, you can save yourself a whole lot of money taking these preventative measures, as you will not have to get tech support. Every dollar counts in this economy.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>

this article talks about the most recommended free spyware protection software that provide optimal protection against spyware and other malicious software that have been created to harm and destroy by those who have too much time on their hands. Without any sort of spyware protection software on your computer, your computer is a sitting duck to all types of harmful attacks.|||it can be for internet, pendrive, software new that you install , a software that download from internet and install in your computer... withou virus and malware, just the linux... ii use Ubuntu.. good luck.,..|||get malwarebytes update it then run a full scan in safe mode|||Try this Malware link on the forum if you have malware problems. http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?pro鈥?/a> gives links to free programmes and help. Alternatively this site gives info on many current malware threatshttp://bestfree-spyware-virus-trojan-pro鈥?/a>|||Install a good antivirus in your computer.

Keep your antivirus updated. If automatic updates are available, configure your antivirus to use them.

Keep your permanent antivirus protection enabled at all times.

1. Run AntiVirus software

2. Run a complete scan with antivirus software you have install on your computer.

Use Mozilla firefox or the google chrome browser for browsing unsafe websites|||It would hhave helped if you had named the malware that you have become infected with as well as the name brand of your anti-virus and anti-malware apps.

Anyway, you should preform a full-system scan with your anti-virus software and quarantine whatever it finds.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest using a good anti-spyware like SUPERAntiSpyware:

http://www.superantispyware.com/

They have a free version and it's excellent.

Download and install SUPER, update it, do a full system scan and quarantine what it finds.

And please be aware that NO anti-virus or anti-malware software can ever be relied upon to give any where near 100% protection. None of them do, free or paid. Most only detect about 85% to 95% of all KNOWN viruses. When a brand new virus is released, NO signature-based anti-virus will detect it for several hours up to several days. Some never will detect a particular virus. And over 1200 new variants of viruses and other malware are created by the "black-hats" each and every day.

This is why anti-virus software mustn update at least once per day.

Will using malwarebytes and superantispyware really help get rid of malware? Or reformat computer?

I have malware and was told my answerers on here to use malwarebytes and superantispyware. I scanned both on safe mode and they were able to track malware and get rid of them. My computer used to always redirect me to other websites but now it doesn't do that anymore. Which I'm sure the programs worked, but I'm still paranoid. Should I just reformat my computer?|||Theres always a possibility of getting malware even after formatting malware-bytes is a very good program so Im sure your pc is fine now

You just have to careful of the sites you Visit and the stuff you down load

get an anti virus that with site indicators that will let you know which sites are good or bad

(things to check from time to time)

1.add and remove programs check for tool bars and other software you didn't install

a lot of time when you install software some of them will install toolbars and search bars

2.check manage add ons in internet explorer for add ons and tool bars that you didn't ok

so web pages do this without you knowing like when you play an online game and it tells you that it needs to install an add on to play the game

3.get anti virus that will monitor your computer will you browse and block most of that stuff

4. learn to know whats good and bad like if you go to a site and its got one of those giant download buttons its not a good Idea to use it most of the time the software is gonna want to add tool bars and stuff ,also watch for sites that try to get you to down load an anti virus and scan your pc or do a registry scan adult sites are bad sometimes to if you use them not saying you do but a lot of them are known for hijacking browsers|||If it seems normal then don't worry, also you can do a restore to a date before the virus. Restore only takes a few minutes wheras a reformat takes a lot of time. I had a virus 2 days ago but my restore got rid of it.|||If they don't pick up anything after scanning once, chances are you're in the clear.

Can malware get into your system through Windows updates?

I recently had a very nasty virus on my computer and had to reformat. Now Windows updater is telling me there are about 60 updates I need. I have no idea which ones I genuinely need, so I haven't installed any of them. Also, I am worried that this is how the virus got into my computer in the first place. Can malware pose as a Windows update?|||cimmic13 is 100% right you are getting infected because you aren't downloading these updates. By not updating your PC you are leaving your operating system ( Most likely Windows ) exposed to any hacker that has the know how to do it.

What a hacker does is look for Windows exploits on your computer. Once the hacker finds one its very easy for him/her to get the tools necessary to hack into your system and turn it into a zombie.

Then all of hell will break loose on your computer. So please get the updates for everyones sake.

In addition to the personal violation of privacy and inherent dangers that brings, the perpetrator can also use the zombie computer to engage in illegal online activities. A hacker that compromises many computers can combine them into a zombie network, called a “botnet.” The hacker can control the zombies by broadcasting single commands, negating the need to communicate with each target individually. The botnet becomes a kind of army to do the hacker’s bidding. Botnets are used to send spam, attack websites, perpetuate phishing scams, commit click-fraud, and grow larger botnets by infecting new computers that are vulnerable to attack.

Unfortunately, the risk of your system falling victim to a zombie computer attack might be greater than you imagine. In highly publicized reports from 2005, one dismantled botnet controlled by three young men in the Netherlands included 1.5 million zombie computers. In the United States teenagers termed “script kiddies” are competitively building botnets to gain peer recognition, and in 2000, a Canadian 15-year-old boy used zombie drones to bring down several large websites, causing $1.7 million US Dollars in damages.

To minimize the growing threat of becoming assimilated into a drone:

* Keep your anti-spyware and anti-virus software current.

* Use a firewall.

* Delete spam without opening it.

* Avoid installing programs from untrusted sources.

* Don’t allow untrusted websites to install software.

* Keep your operating system and Web browser current with the latest hotfixes.

* Use a good anti-rootkit program weekly to scan for rootkits.

* Back up your system each week after a clean scan.

P.S. Please keep your Windows system updated so the hackers don't use your PC as a zombie. Cause no one will win if that happens.|||Yes, Malware can pose as a Windows Update, however, they do not enter through the Microsoft Windows Update notification tool which is the pop-up your seeing. Malware through a Windows Update file will usually occur when browsing the internet, and you are asked to download a video codec from Windows Update, but, acutally, is not from Microsoft. Install ALL of the security updates, as these will keep 85% of all viruses and exploits off of your pc. Install a good antivirus, choose your choice.

Malware is any program or code that is intended to do harm to your computer. Malware includes spyware, viruses, trojans, etc.

Spyware is usually in the form of a tracking cookie. These cookies and programs generally display ads and popups, known as adware.

Antivirus is a program that will protect your computer from these harmful and annoying programs %26amp; files.

Malwarebytes is better than AVG, so keep that and don't get AVG, you don't need it.|||don't be sorry computer are difficult to understand.

malwarebytes removes malware form your computer. AVG is an antivirus that removes viruses. you can use both together. viruses, malware, and spyware slow down and destroy your computer.

avg and malwarebytes are free programs that are OK.

i use Norton internet security 2010 because it is the best. and for you it would be too because it wont bother you with questions about the software or anything like that. if you get Norton you cant use those other programs. only use 1 antivirus and 1 firewall (blocks outside intruders).|||Malwarebytes anti-malware is anti-spyware program, it specialises in small subset of malwares. AVG is broader spectrum program.

I can not recommend free version of both of these programs for making system secure, as they got some problems :

Malwarebytes anti-malware free version does not have real-time protection, and updates need to be launched manually (no scheduling).

free avg has no rootkit protection (a type of parasites), so there is a whole subclass of parasites your PC is vulnerable to.

Both programs are good, though. But I would use their commercial version, or replace them with other free alternatives like superantispyware (instead malwarebytes) and AVIRA or AVAST instead AVG.|||AVG is an OK Anti Virus program for Free !!

I run Kaspersky Anti Virus. Bought.

Anti Virus is one thing. Your right. Now you need to stop Trojans and other Malware.

So I use SPYBOT search and Destroy.

Its free and I have used for years.

Because it's free, you have to down load updates yourself each week. But that's as easy as asking a question on Yahoo, or logging into your mail account.

Spybot runs together with any Anti Virus program, and I highly recommend it.

Hope that helps you.

Cheers from DOWN UNDER|||Your questions arnt stupid so dont worry man lol, I have AVG and I suggest you get since its free and does a really good job. If you want both you can go ahead and get botch aswell since one is for malware and AVG is for viruses (mostly).|||Avg is an antivirus, it is ment to catch viruses.

Malwarebytes takes care of malware, things like spyware, and adware.

you can run both programs together. Thats what I do|||You can use both of them at one time. There won't be any problem.

Both will make your pc safe from viruses.|||Im pretty sure Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is just a app to search your files for virus;s ect, i think you will still need a antivirus such as avg free|||they both work well together but avg is not very good use these two avira or avast use only one and both are free get at cnet.com

Spyware doctor cleaned out my registry keys in deleting malware. I made no backup, what do i do?

I did not make any backup, is their a way to recover it? Everytime i open an application it gives me a dll error, or some other error. Can i purchase a backup registry from Microsoft?|||I would recommend this:

1) Perform a 'system restore' - Google it if you don't know how.

2) Clean out the registry with 'RegCure' - the DLL errors you are seeing is problably from the way in which SpyWare Doctor just removed the refences to these files from your registry. Using RegCure should be able to repair the references and stop the errors. You can see it at http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/regcure鈥?/a>|||Spyware Doctor is known to be a very aggressive registry cleaner filled with false positive searches.

False positive searches means that it finds what it thinks to be obsolete keys and removes them leading to other problems on your computer.

The Repair Registry Cleaners website ---%26gt; http://RepairRegistryCleaners.com has lots of reviews of all the best registry cleaners available on the market..|||You can't purchase a backup registry since the registry tracks all your personal pgms and data. Unless someone else knows of a "miracle" I think you are in a big mess. What is a good service to take my computer to to get rid of security protection malware?

ive already tried the methods from bleepingcompter but the malware wont let me download the software needed to remove the malware. the virus even stops me when the computer is in safe mode. so who would be a good service to take the computer to?|||Use another PC: Ask a friend to download necessary programs to USB memory. Print instructions too. Disconnect PC from LAN/Internet and follow instructions. Isn't hard. Make sure to use Administrator account: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-v鈥?/a>|||Then you must not have searched well enough. I can tell you right now that the malware is sitting in the "All Users" folder since it is loading in safe mode, or has a registy in your CurrentVersion to run it.

Why is my HP Pavilion notebook computer more susceptable to viruses and malware than my desktop?

How do I fix this problem without formatting and reinstalling XP?|||A Trojan horse, or trojan for short, is a term used to describe malware that appears, to the user, to perform a desirable function but, in fact, facilitates unauthorized access to the user's computer system. The term comes from the Trojan Horse story in Greek mythology. Trojan horses are not self-replicating which distinguishes them from viruses and worms. Additionally, they require interaction with a hacker to fulfil their purpose. The hacker need not be the individual responsible for distributing the Trojan horse. It is possible for hackers to scan computers on a network using a port scanner in the hope of finding one with a Trojan horse installe.

Other times, there will be a pop-up that opens up in the background that will have an ad with sound.

Another thing to look for is make sure that no programs are creating the sound. Windows themes have sounds and it may be produced by windows themes depending on what version you have.

If you think you may have a virus, here is what to do:

1. Remove your Anti-virus.

2. Go to http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Anti鈥?/a> and download this Antivirus. This is the best and most highly recommended free Anti-virus in the tech world. Install this and run scans.

3.) if you still think there may be an issue. Try this. http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/?tag=m鈥?/a> It will remove all your cookies and such stuff, usually spyware is put on your pc by cookies.

4.) Try this. http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpywar鈥?/a> Run scans and remove bad items.

5.) or another comparable to Superantispyware is Malwarebytes. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-An鈥?/a>

All these are free and are what most techs use in the tech world. You should never purchase the full versions, they are a waste of money and usually only provide extra tech savvy program accessibility. Basically, they are marketing schemes to make money. Also, Make sure that if you download Superantispyware that it doesn't start up with windows or run in your taskbar, you only need one AV running at a time and Avast will handle all your security needs. If you have more than one running, it bogs down your pc and becomes counter-productive as they usually will not work properly if another AV is running.

How can I remove AntiSpyCheck malware for FREE?

How can I remove the accursed AntiSpyCheck malware/spyware for FREE? I can't find a free removal tool anywhere on the web, only scanners. I have tried removing this damned spyware with all my spyware programs - Adaware, Spybot Search %26amp; Destroy, and Xara Soft, but NONE of them can remove it. So please can somebody tell me where I can get a FREE removal tool, as this damn thing is driving me mad!|||AntiSpyCheck is a rogue antispyware that is installed through the Zlob Trojan. This trojan hides as a necessary part of a video codec. To remove AntiSpyCheck, you can download Malware Bytes' Free Anti Malware. It is an absolutely FREE anti spyware program that is made especially to remove tough malware, such as AntiSpyCheck. Follow these instructions to remove:

1. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, or MBAM from here: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/mal鈥?/a> and save it to your desktop

2. Close all programs that are currently open on your computer

3. Double-click on the icon on your desktop named Download_mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.

4.When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click on the Finish button.

5 MBAM will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program

6 On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for AntiSpyCheck related files.

7 MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware. This process can take quite a while, so we suggest you go and do something else and periodically check on the status of the scan.

8 When the scan is finished a message box will appear. You should click on the OK button to close the message box and continue with the AntiSpyCheck removal process.

9 You will now be back at the main Scanner screen. At this point you should click on the Show Results button.

10 A screen displaying all the malware that the program found

11 You should now click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine.

12 When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and display it in Notepad. Review the log as desired, and then close the Notepad window.

13 You can now exit the MBAM program.

Norton, McAfee, Malwarebytes, BitDefender and ZoneAlarm all sell anti-malware programs that will detect and remove malware.

Open your antivirus program and make sure it is updated. Run its scan feature to check for malware files and registry entries. The files and entries that are part of the Antivirus will vary, however, any file or entry that includes, "AV2010" or "IEDefender" will be part of the malware system. Many entries will be stored under the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" key.

Remove all files and registry entries that apply to the Antivirus malware.
