Is it okay to have both an antivirus and antispyware/malware?

I'm not really a computer expert and I don't really know the difference between the two. I have Avira anti virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware. Both are free editions. Is it okay to have them both at the same time? They won't conflict with each other or anything, will they? Thanks in advance.|||Yes it is ok - Avira antivir has real time protection while malwarebytes antimalware just scans your pc for malware - they will not conflict. I have been running both together for some time without any problems. You made a good choice.|||You should have one virus protection program and at least one spyware protection program, for spyware you can have as many as you want. I have two installed on my computer

AVG free

Malewarbytes

Spybot|||no worries mate. in fact, it's recommended that you have both in your pc. if i might make a suggestion, i think you're better off using mcafee 8.7 which has the two functions bundled together. you can download it from demonoid for free and yeah, it's free. just choose the perpetual license option during installation. hope this helps.

let me know if you need any assistance whatsoever. cheers!|||I run:

Spybot S%26amp;D

Ad-Aware

AVG 8.5

Spyware Blaster

Windows Defender

All are freeware and I have no issues.|||You should never run more then one anti virus program to avoid conflicts. But you can have as many anti spyware/malware programs as you want. It is usually advisable to run at least two malware programs. In most cases one will find things that the other misses.|||Yes sometimes it is, BUT sometimes, Two AntiVirus/AntiMalware/AntiSpyware Applications might think of eachother as a risk and therefor begins to fight eachother.

But i think it is ok to have both Avira and MalwareBytes. :)|||Yes- Make sure to only have 1 AV. Having multiple antispywares are fine though, and the more the merrier really. I have Avira for AV and Malwarebytes, Super Antispyware and Spybot.|||Sure is, I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps|||Yes, just dont have two anti viruses in realtime, you can have like kaspersky gaurding your system with avira just for scanning.

Get these, NOTE:avg got 94.% detection rates in the av-test.de and the av-comparitives.org tests....avira got 99.7% and higher in both.

Just install those and update them then schedule avira to scan ..say every night at 10 or something
