Why is my HP Pavilion notebook computer more susceptable to viruses and malware than my desktop?

Both computers are on the same wired router, and both go to the same "sites". The notebook seems to pick up malware overnight. It has to be constantly scanned to remove such. What can I do to stop this? Why is the laptop picking up so much more than the desktop? Both are using the same virus protection plans. The laptop incessantly blinks on the screen until after I run a "good" scan!|||Laptops are most of the time, more susceptible to malware as most of the time, their hardware is slightly less powerful than that of a desktop computer, due to it having to occupy a much smaller space. If they were exactly the same, you would have to carry around something the size of the 'tower' of your desktop computer.
