How likely is it that hard drive manufacturers put out Viruses and malware in order to increase business?

the more viruses out and that THEY know how to deal with ,,,,means more profit?

would they benefit from Viruses and malware causing more hard dives to need replacing?

have they ever looked into this possiblity? how could prove it and how it is possible and how likely and why?|||I do not believe any respectable hardware company would ever do this. There would be no point, in any case, as viruses only exist at the software level and so formatting an infected hard drive would get rid of any malware. You don't have to replace a hard drive if your installation is infected by malware.|||what do viruses and hard drives have do with anything?

yes a virus has to "live" on your hard drive but the conspiracy theories concern the Anti Virus companies creating the viruses in order to secure more business.

Very rarely does a virus make a drive not function, it can easily screw up Windows meaning you need to format and re-install, but the drive still works.|||Unscrupulous computer techs perhaps have told unknowing owners that they needed a new hdd because of viruses.

"Ma'am, your computer is slow because your internet chips are going bad. We need to dazzle the friberator and whammy the trouble-shaft, too. Sorry, but this is gonna cost ya a bit."

A virus can most definately take down your OS, but it will not physically damage hardware.|||With computers becoming obsolete almost as soon as they are

brought out, business is always gonna be booming.|||It's the second hand ones that came from area 51 you need to worry about - they have Martian viruses|||Hi..

Getting a Viruses doze not mean you need a new hard drive..

One has no bearing on the other.
